Your Quinceañera! It’s a once in a lifetime event and you want to make it as special for you and as memorable for your friends and family as possible. There’s a lot of work to be done. So here are our top five things to keep in mind While planning your quinceañera.
1 Time budget
First things first: Your budgets! There are actually two budgets to consider, money and time. Lack of time can be just as restrictive as lack of funds. Picking a venue, planning and practicing the dances, even going through your guest list can take a considerable amount of time. Make sure there’s time for everything to be done right. After all, you only get one quinceañera. If you’re on a tight schedule don’t be afraid to let something minor go so you can give the most important things your full attention.
2 Financial Budget
Of course, there is the financial budget as well. Discuss with your parents a starting figure and see what items your Padrinos and Madrinas are going to sponsor. Then you can think about doing odd jobs to fill out your budget. Babysitting, and dog-walking for friends and neighbors could be money-making options There are also some ways to make a little money online. Selling handcrafted items on Etsy.com might be a way to go as well. Be sure to let your friends and family know that your only store is open for business.
3 The Venue
The next consideration is finding a venue for your reception. What kind of place would you like to hold your reception? Indoor, Outdoors, a reception hall, a park or even a backyard, there’s quite a variety to choose from. It’s good to start looking at venues as early as possible. A popular venue may need to be reserved well in advance. Be sure to take note of what amenities available at the venue, and what you might have to provide. Some reception halls have decoration, catering or other services could be included when you rent the space. Not all venues have everything. You may need to provide small things like napkins and salt shakers to large things like a sound system. Don’t forget to keep your budget in mind. You may save money taking advantage of a package deal or it might be cheaper to do it yourself.
4 Guest List
Next comes the guest list. Unlike most tasks for your quinceañera, the guest list is best when it’s finalized just a month or two before the big event. Some friends can fade from your life, and new ones can come in. Waiting on this list gives you the chance to make it perfect. Some of your guests might want to bring a date to your party. When you send out invitations ask guests to R.S.V.P. You’ll get a better count of who will show up, and there will be less chance of anything running out. Speaking of invitations, here’s a little tip to save a little money. Send formal printed invitations to family members and your sponsors, but give your close friends a more casual invite. They know you best and might appreciate getting an email, or a facebook invite instead of a snail mail. You can always get some cheaper invitations and deliver them personally with a smile and a hug.
5 Gratitude
Last but not least you need to thank those who attended and you help make your quinceañera possible. Send “Thank You” notes. They can be custom printed and match your invitations. Or you can write a more personal note once everything is done. At the party, itself guest should receive favors that reflect you and your special day. They can be things that yourself. If you’re the crafty type, you can make custom mementos for your guests. If you like to bake give cookies. If your tastes run more savory give out custom mixes of spices. But you don’t have to make them yourself. There are custom picture frames, glasses, charm bracelets and ton of other souvenirs that are available for just a few dollars a piece. You could also hire a caricature artist to do personal works of cartoon art for everyone. After the dance floor has been opened to everyone, and your guests are mingling it’s a great time for you and your court to have a group caricature done as well as an individual drawing for each member of your court.
What you can expect from your caricature artists
We can draw up to 20 people per hour in black and white, 12 people per hour in color. We can create personalized party favors with graphics or images specific to your party and theme. We provide conversation pieces at the party as guests show off their mementos to one another.
What you will need to provide
Chairs for our artists and your guests. Tables are also suggested, so guests can set drinks and personal items down while they are being drawn. Your artists will need lighting or power outlets to bring lighting in. A quiet area away from the dance floor, but near the entrance to be found easily would be ideal.
